“Voicover” aritsts in mima in Middlesbrough

This December, three CORNERS artists, Julie Myers, Lucyna Kolendo and Bojan Mucko, will be at mima in Middlesbrough to develop their project Voiceover. The artists collect narratives about specific places connected with local industry, landscape, everyday life and work from the personal perspective of the workshop participants.

How are these topics connected, and how are different groups of people in the local area affected by the urban development throughout their life? What is the commonality of experience across the different locations in Europe? The result of the workshop is a performative event broadcast live and can be heard on cornerslive.org.

During their visit, the artists will be working with the Thorntree Roses at the Community Hub at Thorntree to gather their stories and create sonic and visual responses to them. On Tuesday 8 December 1.00pm – 2.00pm, the artists will host the Open Forum as part of the Localism exhibition, with a live radio broadcast on Wednesday 9 December 10.00pm – 12.00pm.

You can tune in on Radio Corners, or better yet – join the conversation live at mima!

Voiceover will be premiered in South East Northumberland in May 2016 for CORNERS Northumberland event with bait.
