Lala Raščić

Born in Sarajevo, living and working in Zagreb, Sarajevo and New Orleans. Rascic has attended Academy of Fine arts in Zagreb and Rijkakademie van Belledende Kunsten, Amstserdam. Her projects often take the shape of videos, artifacts, installations, drawings – all feeding into the same narrative thread. Her works are engaging narratives – inhabiting a space between concept and theatricality.

Recent solo shows include: 2011, Brighter than a thousand suns, The Good Children Gallery; A load from the Inside, Sigmund Freud Museum, Vienna. 2010 – The Damned Dam, Pogon, Zagreb; Individual Utopias, Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina, Novi Sad.

Group shows include: 2011, NOLA Now, CAC, New Orleans; Second World, Graz (curated By WHW); D-0 ARK Underground, Konjic. 2010, Spa Port, Where Everything is Yet to Happen, Banja Luka. Her work has also been shown in Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb; Museum of Contemporary Art, Belgrade; The Kitchen, New York; Renaissance Society, Chicago; Gallery Miroslav Kraljevic, Zagreb; Gallery of the Cultural Center, Belgrade, and as part of P1.5, New Orelans a. o. Her work can be found in collections: Filip Trade Contemporary Art Collection, Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb; National Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Central and Eastern Europe video art archive Transitland and MMCA Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, Thessaloniki.

Rascic has attended artist in residence programs such as Platfom Garanti CAC, Istanbul, Cite des Artes, Paris and Kultur Kontakt, Vienna. She has also curated 3 group shows and has held numerous lectures about her work.
