Ixone Ormaetxe

Ixone Ormaetxe was born in Bilbao in 1978.

Bachelor in Fine Arts in 2002 at the University of the Basque Country. Currently elaborating her thesis, “Creation and investigation in art” with the project entitled “THE CREATION OF A NEW OBSERVER. Experimentation of observation methodologies”.

Her artistic path has always moved through several disciplines that go from visual art to poetry, inspiring from all the possible sources. She has done works that have allowed her to express in a pictorial, audiovisual, and textile way using installations and objects to approach a conversation with the viewer.

From the purer plastic expressions (painting, sculpture, drawing…) to graphic and textile design her work is always in touch with the public and the viewer.

Looking for different ways of “taking out” the art to the street, she has shared her art in different ways at public spaces. The basis of her work consists in looking for the dialogue with the ones that also observe her: the viewer, the reader, the public and all the ones that she invites to participate in her work… that inevitably become part of the scene.

Simultaneously and during ten years she has work as teacher, approaching art to students and adults. She designs art projects and educative workshops in schools of the Basque Country.
